A Blessed Event

I had to run to Raleigh for an errand and left a neighbor raking the fallen wintry leaves from the chain length fence out back. Returning I was happy to see the distance he had achieved and to my surprise he said, “I saved your neighbors chickens!” “You saved my neighbors chickens? How?” I asked.

Kelly was down on his hands and knees finishing the appropriate area when all of a sudden a small, approx. two foot moccasin shimmered across his left hand. The next thing he knew here came a six-footer, shimmering up his left hand, arm, over his left shoulder and, down his back. My neighbor said he froze!

Praises to Jesus he did not get bit. After the ordeal Kelly said he killed the pair. I suggested it was probably a mother with her young trying to find coolness in all this heat. . .and yes; they had buried themselves deep inside the thick leaves and were within two feet of the chicken coop.

We never know when a blessing will come our way. Always something to be thankful for. J.
