We celebrated William D. Burton’s birthday last night at the Big Easy in Cary. After our first set I asked Brook, one of the owners, if they had a cupcake that we could stick a candle into, so we could sign Happy Birthday to William. Instead, of a cupcake, she brought out one of the desserts on the menu. It Banana Foster with a serious attitude.
We sang Happy Birthday. Then William and his wife Sandra dug into the dessert. William looked over and asked for help because it was HUGE! I volunteered for the task and had never heard so much moaning and growning around a desert in my life. We were all doing it. I had several large pieces and forced my self to stop (that was really hard to do). It was so good I was afraid we were going to be arrested by the “too much fun with a dessert police”.
I told William and Sandra that I was going to have to go to confession after this. “Bless me Father for I have sinned. Her name was Banana Foster”.
Later, I had the Crawfish Etouffe (plump Louisiana crawfish sauteed in butter) and did a little more sinning. Ymmmm. Come join us next Thursday night and be prepared to go to confession the next day.
