Entertainment Triangle (ET) is pleased to announce that Light on the Horizon, an instrumental piece by Diogenes Ruiz, has just been released and is now available on Itunes. This particular piece of music was used in the opening act of “Light on the Horizon”, the play, which was produced by the Justice Theater Project, a local theatrical performing group that focuses on performances that highlight social justice issues. The music was written for the play which dealt with the Gulf Oil spill – the events leading up to it and the aftermath.

The text at the bottom of the artwork was written to describe what the music is all about.

There’s a light on the horizon – the flicker seemed so faint.
I kept my eye upon it, as its soft whisper stirred in my heart.
The light’s a distraction from more immediate matters at hand.
My disbelief and vagueness , my social acceptance, my hate , my pain
my fear, my security, my sweat, my life – what’s left of it,
In need I walk, sometimes in kindness, mostly indifference , can’t afford to walk in love
I seek comfort in my toys, but they conspire against me – it’s a one way relationship
That light is too distracting, need to put it out – that’s what I’ve been told.
As I look upon the light – I hear its whisper softly
Like a melody that sooths a child, it quiets my hurried soul
Deeper is my longing than the darkness can avail
Upon the light I gaze surprised to see myself
To walk in love – a gift given me, in spite of disbelief
My intoxication grows as I let the light engulf me
Upon my fellow man I see the darkness fall
But there’s a light on the horizon
