Twitter Favorites: Your Online Business Resume

Twitter is a powerful social network used by over 200 million people! We send out tweets, links to blog posts, quotes, links to other resources and information of value to our viewers. But are you using Twitter as your Online Resume…for your business?

What Are Twitter Favorites
Twitter Favorites is a feature that allows you to add as a “Favorite” something that’s been said (tweeted). It’s kept permanently under your Favorites area unless you “Undo” the Favorite and is a powerful way to build an ongoing stream of information for your business and for you.

Twitter Favorites is like your “LinkedIn Recommendations” area. All the tweets are postivie messages about you and/or your business and the best thing about it? These are all positive reviews …uncoached and unsolicited!

Why Use Twitter Favorites
Favorites is word of mouth and free publicity at it’s very best! Use this as a area to spotlight your business and what you do. At the same time the person who tweeted the message is being seen as well. That’s a win-win for all!

Often when I view a page I’ll look at their Favorites. Many do not save any favorites and most of those that do are using the feature to favor a quote, a funny joke, or a trending popular topic that someone else has tweeted. All of which spotlights someone else and does nothing for you.

When To Add Tweets To Favorites
• When someone ReTweets some information you’ve tweeted (choose sparingly)
•Specific #FollowFriday mentions of you and what you do
•When you’re been interviewed or have presented and positive mentions have been tweeted
•Someone tweets a @mention/connect of you recommending your services
•Your posts have been picked up by some of the daily iPapers used on Twitter
These are just a few Tweets you can save, you’ll spot more of them as you build your ongoing stream of Favorites.

Where Is the Favorite Area
From your Twitter profile page, underneath your picture you will see Favorites listed. This is where viewers visiting your page can click on. It’s also where you can direct someone to go to see your Favorites when you’re talking with them or click on your favorites and copy the link from your browser to send out in your marketing or tweeting!

How Your Stream Of Twitter Favorites Will View

Using my Twitter profile as the example: Type in www.twitter.com/Livvie_Matthews, (even if you don’t have a Twitter account you can still see how this works). Then underneath my picture find and click on Favorites. Everything I’ve clicked to save as a Favorite will stream by for you to view. This is a powerful way for viewers to see what people are saying about you and your business…plus you are receiving free publicity! It doesn’t get any better than this.

Directing someone who’s inquiring about your services to view your Favorites is a great way for them to see how you’re viewed by your online community!

This type of publicity can’t be bought and is an invaluable source of ongoing information as you build your online resume for your business!

What else could you add to using Twitter Favorites for building your business?
